There are some well-defined genres of general interest podcasts, including the daily/weekly news and commentary show, like The Daily, Up First, and other flagship shows from every news organization. It’s a high journalistic and storytelling bar to compete in this category, and I think the branded company podcast from BlackRock is right at home among them:
The Bid
The show is hosted by Oscar Pulido from BlackRock and covers “what’s happening in the world of investing”. It’s a good blend of the news broadcast approach of talking to the right experts on a newsworthy topic, and the branded podcast desire to orient the show to where the company has expertise. That can feel forced, but it’s nicely done here where it doesn’t feel like a compromise on either side.
