Rebrand alert! I’m excited when great branded company podcasts launch new seasons, and it’s especially interesting when they decide to overhaul the name, logo, and show format. Let’s look more closely at Dropbox:
Working Smarter
Dropbox started their podcast Remotely Curious in August 2022 (not to mention the 100+ episodes I hosted while I worked there of an employee-only internal podcast). It was a great fit for the company in the midst of the zeitgeist around hybrid and remote work, since Dropbox itself had proactively moved to a “virtual first” model powered in part by its own productivity tools. I liked both of their seasons on the theme, with guests sharing their research and expertise about the challenges of remote work and practical tips for thriving.
But we’re now 18 months later, and while hybrid work is still an evolving journey for so many companies, it’s no longer the hottest buzzword of the moment - that would of course be AI. I like that Dropbox and their production partner Cosmic Standard embraced the opportunity to make a pivot with their new season.
The first episode just dropped two days ago, and while there are tons of podcast now about AI, they’re off to a good start with an interview with researcher and author Kate Darling talking about the nuances of how people relate to robots and digital aids. Plus there’s a solid fit with the strategic and product direction of Dropbox with new tools for AI-powered search and organization. I’m excited for the show to be back and trying something new!
They do a great job of highlighting their production team in the credits, so I want to recognize them here as well. From Cosmic Standard: Samiah Adams, Aja Simpson, Jacob Winik, Eliza Smith. Additional contributors Benjy Bapitiste, Meggan Ellingboe, Fanny Luor, Justin Tran, Doug Stuart, and host Matthew Braga.
