I’m highlighting Olympics podcasts in parallel with the games, which span from official shows from the broadcasters, to branded company podcasts, to fan hosted ones. After kicking off with the IOC, next on the hierarchy of major organizations is NBC:
The Podium
We’ll actually touch on three different podcasts they published over the course of this series. The Podium is the most conventional - it takes the TV model of human interest stories with athletes and tells them in podcast form. Prior to the opening ceremonies they covered Artistic Swimming (formerly Synchronized Swimming and Jackie Joyner Kersee’s Heptathlon record among other topics. Now they have a shorter daily episode with more timely updates. It’s a solid choice if you’re going to listen to one or two shows to get an audio companion for Paris.
