Branded company podcasts often have a member of senior leadership as the host of the show, usually interviewing other experts in the industry. I listened to an episode of:
The Optimistic Outlook
from Siemens USA called "How to optimize for change", and I think it might be atypical for the show overall, but it got me thinking about how to use an employee host.
Overall the show uses a solid format of having the host interview leaders of organizations in the company’s space to highlight the themes of the show, in this case improving America’s infrastructure. What was interesting about this specific episode is it’s an audio presentation of host and CEO Barbara Humpton reflecting on her principles for leadership. We don’t often hear the direct words and messages of the host speaking from their leadership experience, which is sometimes for good reason as that doesn’t line up well with keeping an external audience engaged. But I think there’s space to find more of these opportunities, since usually the hosts bring in really compelling business experience.
