How closely does a company branded podcast need to follow a singular format and topic area? There’s not a universal answer, and I’m highlighting The Nordy Pod as a show that takes a pretty flexible approach to whether episodes will cover company stories from Nordstrom staff, interviews with business leaders within the retail industry, or more general interest interviews.
The Nordy Pod
I listened to host Pete Nordstrom's interview with Doug Baldwin, a retired NFL player continuing to invest in his community near Seattle (where Nordstrom is based). Before that you can hear a couple of retail interviews, stories from top salespeople at Nordstrom, and actor Joel McHale. That variety can be a bit jarring as listeners are getting used to the show, but it also can hit on some topics of broader appeal, and there’s always an element of adapting to personal interest for shows that are ultimately driven by the areas of most interest to a company exec.
