Review: The Karat Podcast

Have you heard about “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love”? The list and concept has gotten a lot of usage in psychology and dating, thanks in part to a feature in the New York Time, and even now as a prominent interview structure in a branded company podcast.

The Karat Podcast

The show is hosted by Karat Financial Co-Founder and Co-CEO Eric Wei. The concept is in-depth and vulnerable interviews with creators about their origin story and challenges. It’s a good fit with Karat since they provide a debit card and other financial services for creators - they were a partner I worked with at Patreon. While I wouldn’t recommend explicitly and directly asking questions from the 36, Eric has made that part of the charm and mutual sharing in his creator interviews.

The Karat team is also a master of using their content on social media. They take the podcast episodes and have a full length video version on YouTube, and multiple short clips on YT Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok. One interview, at least 10 pieces of content marketing for the company!
