As we head into the home stretch of the Olympics’ second week, I’m also focusing on the core of my reviews with company branded podcasts that tie into the Olympics. The Olympics has a tiered system of sponsorships, with 14 companies in the top tier. While it’s not clear what additional rights these sponsors get to talk about the Olympics in their marketing content, the three shows I’ll highlight the rest of the week are all from this tier. Let’s start with Deloitte:
The Green Room
The show has been running for 76 episodes and five years with a format of in-depth interviews about interesting business and societal questions. So it’s a special departure from the norm in their five episode mini-series “What’s The Power of Being First?” that talks to Olympians and Paralympians about their journeys and the firsts that they are achieving. I love the dedicated multi-episode focus on their Olympic sponsorship, and connecting it to the kinds of topics that the show features. Across all of the top tier sponsors, this is the best example of what I thought I would find of sponsors really leveraging their Olympic Committee access to tell dedicated stories!
