Yesterday’s branded company podcast review focused very explicitly on history with the Imperial War Museums’ show. Today the focus is tennis, but history plays a key role as well:
This show is from the International Tennis Hall of Fame and just launched their third season, now with ITHF President and ESPN commentator Patrick McEnroe as host. I listened to their first episode of the season, and they took a clever tactic of having McEnroe introduce the topic before turning it over to prior season host Chris Bowers. McEnroe is the solo interviewer in the second episode, so I wonder if they recorded season one before he fully joined the production, or they will continue to split hosting responsibilities - either way it worked seamlessly.
The wider lesson is how well the retelling of major moments from careers like that of Pete Sampras work for engaging the listener in the history of the sport. I grew up watching tennis in the Sampras & Agassi era and the podcast immediately brought me back to watching his epic matches.
