Back when I worked at Patreon, we talked a lot about Red Bull as an aspirational benchmark for their long-established ability to engage with and shape narratives around not just extreme sports but also music and pop culture. I’ve previously reviewed one of their sports interview podcasts Mind Set Win, so this time it’s a music narrative podcast:
Remember the Time: The Hyphy Movement
If you’re into hip-hop music and already know about hyphy, the show, hosted by Branden J Peters, will be especially interesting to listen to the deep dive into a brief but impactful genre from the mid-2000s originating in the Bay Area of California. But even if not, the show is a nice example of the bets Red Bull can take given their sustained investment in content about music and culture. They actually label the show just with their Red Bulletin online magazine logo, which is a nice touch and further evidence of how strongly they have established the Red Bull credentials with this target audience.
