If you have a brand where children are your consumers, should your branded podcast be targeting those kids as listeners, or their parents, or some combination? That’s a challenge for a lot of brands, and I’m really impressed with the approach HarperCollins Publishers took.
Remember Reading
Children’s books are a powerful connection between parents and their children - I speak from experience getting to share some of my favorite picture books and now novels with my kids. That’s why it works so well for Remember Reading to feature the stories directly from authors and illustrators of their creative process making beloved books.
I listened to a recent episode with Antoinette Portis who wrote and illustrated one of my favorites, Not A Box, and Sergio Ruzzier who shared his direct connections working with and being mentored by legendary writer-illustrator Maurice Sendak. But if those don’t tickle your specific memories from growing up, maybe The Giver, or the Frog & Toad series, The Secret Garden, Amelia Bedelia, or The Chronicles of Narnia will. They cover learn-to-read books all the way to young adult fiction, with three different hosts across the history of the series in conjunction with Podfly Productions, LLC: Lindsay Livingston, Katie Dutton, and Lisa DiSarro.
What a great way to tap into nostalgia, inspire connections between generations of customers, and remind people what makes your product special!
