I don’t feature a lot of repeat companies in my branded podcast reviews - there are so many good ones out there that deserve the spotlight. So it’s it’s a very considered choice to highlight a second show from The Smithsonian after already highlighting their show “Sidedoor”:
PORTRAITS
I’ve had Portraits in my rotation for a while now, but it had been over a year between episodes I listened to. Together they’re a nice combination of the kinds of stories the Smithsonian can tell. Back in 2022 they had a story about the National Postal Museum and how stamps are designed. Pretty fun topic to connect between history, art, and culture, right? Then this month, I listened to their episode “Copyright vs Copywrong” and was impressed with their journalistic range. With the new episode, it’s about connecting the Smithsonian institution to contemporary and nuanced legal topics that tie in to art.
Both episodes with host Kim Sajet were great listens, and show an impressive range across more historical topics and current events. If you have a strong concept and area of focus for your branded company podcast, there’s a ton of ground to potentially cover!
