The 2024 Olympics in Paris are underway, and I’m all in on watching both mainstream and more obscure sports. And while there aren’t very many true branded company podcasts dedicated to Olympic stories, there are a lot of interesting business models and approaches taken by the creators behind Olympics-related podcasts. So, for the next two weeks in parallel with the Olympics, I’ll use my reviews here to highlight interesting podcasts that make a great companion to watching the games.
Olympics.com Podcast
I’d be remiss to not start with the podcast from the International Olympic Committee itself! In the run up to the opening ceremonies, their flagship podcast has had profiles of sport climbing, basketball, swimming, and the refugee Olympic team. If you enjoy the human interest story profiles and primers on the major sports, there’s lots to enjoy from the recent episodes.
Additionally, one impressive aspect of the show, quite appropriately for the IOC, is that they are an always-on Olympics podcast, publishing a couple episodes about Olympic athletes and sports every month. So especially if your Olympics excitement will continue long after the closing ceremonies, this is a great show to add to your subscription!
