I usually just listen to a single episode of a branded company podcast as I get a quick sense of as many shows as I can across my podcast routine. So I’ll have to take this company’s word about a smart aspect of their new show - Greenpeace UK
Oceans: Life Under Water
The show is new, hosted by Hannah Stitfall, with production from Crowd Network, Anna Staufenberg, and Steve Jones. I listened to the pilot episode, and it’s a nice mix of hearing from a freediver who is immersed in water sports, as well as a scientist to talk about the importance of the ocean. Then, there’s also a unique aspect of telling the story of a ship sailing from Panama to the Galapagos Islands. Only a short teaser is covered of the ship’s epic journey - the idea they introduce is that the full story will unfold over the course of the podcast series.
That’s a clever concept that takes advantage of the episodic storytelling nature of podcasting, and the ability to plan and edit for a defined season of whatever length makes sense for your production process.
