I’m kicking off a week of highlighting branded company podcasts that won awards at the Signal Awards last week! And before I get into the new review of a winning show, I also want to recognize two shows I’ve previously reviewed that also won: This is Small Business from Amazon Web Services with a bronze and Listener’s Choice in Best Trailer; and Hello Monday with a silver in Business.

Nice Genes from Genome British Columbia

I actually already had Nice Genes in my queue to review, as they also just launched their new, third season with JAR Audio, which caught my eye. Host Kaylee Byers, PhD and production partner JAR Audio take science topics and make them really approachable. I listened to the first episode of the new season about how genes can jump, transfer, and even be stolen. The show really hits a sweet spot of making the topics fun, with good metaphors and soundscape, while reinforcing the magic of what we can now do with modern genomic science.
