I really enjoy finding branded company podcasts that try something outside the usual formats and styles. Like World Wildlife Fund:
Nature Breaking
Some of the episodes with host Seth Larson are a more typical long-form interview with an environmental expert on the state of the world and our efforts to improve things. The episode I tried out was something new they are trying called “Headlines & Trendlines”. I actually thought this was the standard format for the show, since it’s such a nice fit with the show name.
They took a couple of time sensitive topics and gave it a newsy breakdown. I thought it worked really well. The same way so many of us will voraciously consume news about politics, tech, celebrities, and other topics, we could be devoting to better understanding what’s happening to our world. And it takes what is usually a very intangible topic about the environment and climate change and makes it feel more urgent and fast-moving. I hope they expand on the use of the format in future episodes.
