I’m a regular listener to On with Kara Swisher, it was interesting to see the journey of her longtime producer and on-mic collaborator Nayeema Raza to starting her own show, which has a branded company podcast element:
Mixed Signals from Semafor Media
Neyeema co-hosts the show with Ben Smith, who is the editor-in-chief of new media company Semafor. They discuss detailed and undercovered aspects of the media landscape including incisive interviews.
The branded company podcast element comes from “Think with Google”. It’s a thought leadership / customer education hub for marketers, and it’s a nice sponsorship integration with the show. Besides the usual branding and callouts in the episode, given that Mixed Signals is a show about evolving media business models, I liked that they have a discussion about how they are choosing to work with a brand sponsor, why Google is a good fit, and bringing on an interview guest from the company. It works nicely together to make it more than the usual ad segment, and for all these reasons Mixed Signals is now in my podcast rotation.
