Podcasts are such a great medium for learning something new - the longform audio is immersive, the episode nature allows for going in depth or jumping to different topics, and the host is your guide along the way. The branded podcast from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is especially good on that last dimension:
Make Me Care About
As the title implies, each episode covers a different topic that is seemingly mundane, but has surprising depth and importance to the organization’s focus on global health. I listened to the episode about iodized salt, to give you a sense of how granular it gets. Episodes are also short and snappy at about 15 min each.
Kudos to the host Jen Hatmaker, production partner Jesse Baker and Eric Nuzum of Magnificent Noise, and production staff of Sabrina Farhi, Hiwote Getaneh, Julia Natt and Kristin Mueller.
