Review: Life at Disney
While it can be tough at a larger company to get buy-in and the range of approvals to launch a branded company podcast around strategy / products / thought leadership, it’s such a clear win for recruiting to tell employee stories to prospective candidates through podcasts. I was looking for any branded podcasts from Disney, and they have one with this focus on recruiting:
Life at Disney
They follow a playbook that so many other companies can also leverage for putting together a podcast of employee stories:
- Get engaging hosts that represent a combination of marketing / recruiting (Holly Dudley) and content production (Josiah Williams) teams
- Organize around either a miniseries theme (like Life at Disney did with a currently running set of episodes about the Disney College Program) or use the episodes to cover interviews with interesting employees from across different functions (like they did earlier covering machine learning, social media, and dining & events)
- Capture the passion of employees talking about what they love doing. In Life at Disney’s case, it’s especially fun to hear the college interns talking about how the program was so impactful for starting their careers, and how excited they are sharing the Disney magic with guests
