I usually stick to talking about the podcast channel only for the branded company podcasts I review. After all, I’m no expert in other formats of content marketing and social media. However, I’m dipping into that cross-channel synergy through for the podcast from First Round Capital.
In Depth
The venture capital firm has a great reputation in Silicon Valley for their blog posts and interviews under the banner First Round Review. In fact there are plenty of people who have a lot of interaction with First Round solely from these valuable best practices without any connection to their core business of investing in startups.
All that is to say, it’s no surprise that in addition to the long-running and influential blog, they also have a long-running and compelling branded podcast! The host is Brett Berson, a partner at First Round, and it’s really clear that they put care into aligning the style of the podcast and blog. The episodes feature successful tech operators that the firm works with and it stands out how the show approaches the interviews. While they touch on the usual questions about strategy and career milestones, I liked that the discussions go particularly deep on the tactical playbook for the functional areas and business challenges the guest brings from their experience. This approach makes the episodes land with really practical tips the listener can implement in their own work, and it does a great job reinforcing how First Round provides this type of resource in the podcast and in written form.
