It’s a smart blueprint for branded company podcasts for nonprofits to share the stories of people in the organization and in the community they serve. It’s a really special story when the guest can speak to both sides of that.
Every Step of the Way: Conversations that Inspire
The show is from Children’s Aid, hosted by Georgia Boothe and Sandra Escamilla, and I was lucky to pick the episode “From Stickball to Surgery”. They interviewed one of their board members Dr Raja Flores who has a remarkable connection to the organization. He grew up in New York and as a child participated in Children’s Aid programs, including free dental services. The experience provided him with positive role models to avoid ending up in bad outcomes, and free dental services that gave him newfound confidence. Years later he became a surgeon and became a leader in the very organization that was key to his successful ascent out of poverty. It’s a powerful story that I still remember vividly long after finishing the episode.
