I’d like to see more branded company podcasts who organize around seasons of releases put together season recap and preview episodes, which is shown really well in this podcast from ThinkLab:
Design Nerds Anonymous
In November they wrapped up their fifth season, with each one consisting of about 9 primary episodes as well as a preview and recap episode. I listened to the season five recap, and it’s a great blueprint for putting together this type of “highlight reel” episode.
Hosts Cindy Kaufman and Byron Morton go through each of the episodes from the season that focused on Gen Z designers and consumers. For each, they cover some details about the episode topic, the interview guests, and some excerpts and quotes from the original episode. As my entry point into the show, I could immediately get valuable takeaway themes and an interest in checking out additional episodes.
It takes extra work to prepare these bonus episodes, but a great way to expand the show, which ThinkLab did on the Surround Podcast Network from Sandow Design Group. I’ve featured another Sandow show in a previous review: Once Upon A Project. I’m impressed with their growing ubiquity among design industry branded podcasts.
