There has been and will be a lot of discussion about this being the “podcast election”, where candidates’ appearances on podcasts are a new, critical element of the campaign media plan. I’m excited to see where that goes, and I also heard an interesting take from the Pivot podcast that we could be on the verge of seeing a huge influx of podcast revenue coming from campaigns at all levels investing investing in podcast advertising.
Amidst the shows with a strong political slant, I’ll highlight a branded company podcast for an organization sticking to just talking about the right to vote and the democratic process:
Democracy Decoded
The show is from the Campaign Legal Center, and while I don’t know if they will be continuing with episodes now that we’re past the 2024 elections, I listened to one of their episodes in the run up and it does a great job conveying the critically important information about how elections function, and our civic duty to vote. Shout out to production partner JAR Audio and the shows hosts and guests for the episode I listened to, Simone Leeper and Trevor Potter.
