Sequoia Capital has entered the tech/VC branded podcast market, and executing really well on a particular style of storytelling.
Crucible Moments
The show’s concept is to hear about the critical points in the history of impactful tech companies - of course largely ones that Sequoia has invested in. That could be pretty similar to a ton of other business podcasts. What Sequoia does, with host Roelof Botha and production partner Vox Creative, is keep the host and narration interruptions to a minimum, and let the actual company leaders tell the story from their own perspective.
This approach makes the story feel more immersive and tense, and takes a lot of smart interviewing and editing to make it work. The show reminds me of one of my general interest favorites, Spark & Fire, which also takes this narrative approach with telling the story of creative projects. I think you’ll like both of them.
