As the Olympics come to a close this weekend, so does my two weeks of reviewing company branded and general interest podcasts focused on the Olympics. This is the third of three created by top-level global Olympics sponsors, in this case Allianz:
A Winning Mindset
The show finished up its 36 episodes in February 2022, so it’s sadly not releasing new episodes for Paris. But it illustrates an even deeper level of partnership than the other shows I’ve featured. It was actually the official podcast of the Paralympic Games. The athlete stories from host and British broadcaster Andy Stevenson are great, and I like seeing the additional attention on paralympic athletes.
Overall I covered 10 Olympic podcasts over the last two weeks. There are a bunch more shows I listened to that either fully focus on the Olympics or shared an episode with an Olympics theme. Here’s a quick roundup of a few others:
- All About… Olympics - BBC’s news and stories for the Olympics
- Road to the Olympics - personal journey of runner Stephen Scullion trying but ultimately falling short of making it back to the Olympics
- Revisionist History (and others from Pushkin) - “Pushkin Goes to the Olympics” - the Pushkin podcast network has had great Olympics content across all of their portfolio shows
- 99% Invisible - “The Art of the Olympics” - in the typical 99PI style, telling stories of the non-athletic events that were included in earlier Olympic games
