As someone who makes podcasts, some of my favorite shows dive deep into the creative process through talking to creators and artists to hear about their inspirations and process. On the non-branded side I’m a big fan of Spark & Fire from Wait What. Today I’m highlighting one of the branded company podcasts from podcast hosting company Castos:
3 Clips
That’s inherently a bit meta - a podcast company making a podcast about podcasting, and it makes sense. You want to establish your company’s expertise to potential customers by providing resources so they can accomplish the goals that your product or service enables.
The format in 3 Clips is that a guest podcaster joins the show to talk about their creative process by reflecting on clips from three different shows/episodes they have worked on. I’m a fan of Avery Trufelman’s work so listened to her episode from Jan’22, but you might find another podcaster you recognize among their other guests. Host Evo Terra is a really well established and connected in the podcasting industry and news, and brings genuine interest and appreciation to the questions about podcasting craft.
And if you don’t find an episode that’s quite what you’re looking for, I like how Castos has carved out slightly different aspects of podcast creation for all four of their branded shows. “3 Clips” is about the “creative process”. “The Limelight” is “podcaster success stories”. “Creative Architects” is “the creator economy”, and “Audience” is “build in public”.
